Victoria Kyriakides SS '11 RTW

Athens' Fashion Week is undeniably one of the most important fashion event of the Mediterranean Sea (alas Milan's Fashion Week of course). And this year, Greek designers delivered a compilation of shows full of intense and fluorescent colors, and intricate shapes.

I was particularly fond of Victoria Kyriakides' SS'11 RTW show this year. She definitely brought a breath of fresh air, announcing bright colors and delicate geometric figures for the Spring. Her collections was inspired by bright natural tons such as lime, aqua, pomegranate, and salmon pink; with a touch of fluorescent hues to accentuate her overall palette. The use of luxurious fabrics such as organtine, paper and duchess satin silk helped emphasize the luminosity of the colors. She also used intricate geometric figures with multi-dimensional revolving figurations, to create texture and volume to her delicate gowns, and ultimately reminding me of corals and fishtails.
