Oscars 2011: Fashion Review

So aside from being anything but entertaining, the Oscars managed to be completely uninspiring as well when speaking of fashion. Usually, most fashionistas look forward to such red carpet events to get the latest scoop on trends, or just be inspired and dazzled by the strass and bling. This year, celebrities managed to be a complete snooze, and it was well reflected on their uber nervous body language throughout the whole event.
We are talking ZERO creativity, innovation, or dare. Even Helena Bohem Carter, who I am truly fond of (especially due to her kooky, extravagant style) managed to look like ... everyone else. This year, the most daring outfits were your usual strapless dress with a tiny bit of cleavage. Most actresses had floor-length dresses, covered shoulders, and tamed colors. In my opinion, why bother to hire a stylist if you are gonna play it safe and could have gone to Saks and Bloomingdales by yourself to pick out your dress?
In the meantime, here are my "favorite" outfits of the event...

Hailee Steinfield's Marchesa gown might seem a bit "normal" for the event, but what I really like about her outfit is the fact that the 14 year old DID look her age. Pretty in Pink, she collaborated with designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig  to create this classic gown

Hilary Swank played it safe the RIGHT way with her Gucci Couture dress. Though I had a sense of Deja-Vu, the gown managed to impress me for adding texture and monochromatic tint to this "average" floor length figure.

Mila Kunis was the only one who stood out of the crowd with her Elie Saab lilac gown. Her dress was a complete tease, done with elegance and delicacy. I like how discreet, yet revealing the lacing was; and the cut of the dress flattered her.
